The Big Give has launched a match funding campaign to raise vital income for those that have been hit hardest by the rapid spread of Covid-19, doubling all donations while funds last – already £500,000 in match funding has been made available. Charity Checkout is working to support the campaign as The Big Give’s donation processing partner.

All donations made through The Big Give’s Covid-19 Emergency Appeal will go to the National Emergencies Trust (NET)’s Coronavirus Appeal, launched by the Duke of Cambridge and supported by media, businesses and government. These funds will be distributed to charitable organisations and community foundations serving those affected by the coronavirus across the country. More than £200,000 has already been raised by the appeal.

Calling on the public to #DonateYourCommute, The Big Give is encouraging people to donate the amount they’re saving on their daily travel costs if they’re now working from home, or whatever they can afford to give.

Matched funding is being provided by the Reed Foundation and the Reed family, as well as the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust, the Samworth Foundation and a number of other philanthropists and grant-makers.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, we’ll be highlighting campaigns and ideas that can help charities, as part of our mission to put charities first.
